Reflections and Action Plan

My strengths for this project I think have been my hand made skills, however on the opposite side, I think that I do need to improve my digital skills. I think that I do not have enough knowledge about programs that are very important to my work.
I think that my final sting has turned out very well, however I do think that to better my work, I would have benefitted from more research.

I will definitely aim to dedicate more time to the range of programs and softwares that I know I will need. And I will also aim to spend more time doing more thorough research.

ACTION PLAN

1.    Always try to evaluate what was good and what was bad about each and every thing that I do. That way, I can improve on my weaker areas and therefore make myself a better designer.

2.    To constantly look at ways to further my knowledge of Graphic Design, as I feel that this is an essential starting position to allow me to move forward.
3.    To learn how to work in an efficient and time saving manner, both individually and as part of a larger group.
4.    To always practice both old and new techniques over and over again, the more that I can do and learn, the better I will become as a designer, and the more opportunities that I will have.
Always try my best in everything that I do, I hope that this will help me to gain a good reputation as a designer.

This is my final sting.
Overall, I am quite pleased with how this has turned out.

Stop Motion Practice Test

I created a small shape to use as my test for this idea.

It was very useful as it helped me create a mental list of Do's and Dont's for when I create my final Sting.
Such as, do not move the camera halfway through....

I played with the colour by moving it around, I like this technique and will use it in my final Sting.

Colour Application

For my colour application on my final Sting, I have decided that I will use paint, and pour it on myself. Doing this, I should be able to create a stop motion animation which I should be able to control myself.
The reason I have chosen paint is because it is quite a traditional material, being used for hundreds of years.

3D Letter Production

I have now made all of my letters for my Sting. I have also made a small practice shape so that I can do a test before I use my final letters.

Colour?

Because I have now decided that my letters will be 3D and hand made, I have to now think about how the colour will be applied to each letter.

The ideas that I have been thinking of are:
Rotoscoping the colour using the timeline,
Analogue, putting it on there by hand and filming.

Although It would be cleaner, and most probably quicker to use a digital method, I have the feeling that this might give the sting a less 'genuine' feel, and that is something that I want to avoid.
So, the option that I have left is to apply the colour by hand. Now, in what way?

3D Letters

I have just watched a program which has given me the perfect idea and way to create the ARTS bit of my sting.
Using scrunched up newspaper and selotape, I can create hand made 3D letters which I can use for my ARTS sting!
